| Since 1977, when Yaskawa
began marketing MOTOMAN, the first electrically controlled
industrial robot in Japan. Yaskawa has always been a leader
in the manufacturing and marketing of industrial robots since
1977, when it first introduced the MOTOMAN product line. Today
Yaskawa offers an even wider range of solutions through packages
that in-corporate peripheral hardware and software. These
packages include welding robots ---- a field of particular
strength and other specialized robots for food processing,
clean room, packaging, and other needs. Yaskawa is also commercializing
and widening applications for clean room robots that have
high degrees of freedom enabling superb capabilities in clean
room transport systems. In addition, Yaskawa is continuing
to evolve its robots to be even more helpful and easy to use.
An example is our live-line maintenance robots used in replacing
power distribution lines.

Enormous economic and technical forces
are changing every aspect of worldwide business. In response
to these challenges, Yaskawa recently formulated "WIN21",
a mid- term management plan that is based on three concepts:
"Completion", "Results", and "Self-Management".
"WIN21" marks a fresh start for decision making
here at Yaskawa. Yaskawa is implemanting such structureal

"WIN21" plan, with the goal of crating a strong
